Are our cheeses vegetarian?

THE MAJORITY OF OUR CHEESE IS VEGETARIAN, we use a mushroom based vegetarian RENNET. HOWEVER OUR CAVE AGED CHEDDAR IS WRAPPED IN MUSLIN using PORK LARD.If buying a cheese with additional flavourings please check the packaging.

Are all your cheese’s pasteurised?

Yes, all of our cheese is pasteurised, we heat to 73°C.

Can your cheddars be frozen?

Yes, our cheese can be frozen. However, we recommend grating and freezing before the best before date. If you freeze it as a block, the texture may change and become crumblier than usual.

Is your cheese free from nuts?

Our sites – manufacturing, packaging, our offices too! – are nut and sesame free.

What are the white crystals on my cheese?

White crystals, or calcium lactate, is a natural production of cheese that has been matured for longer THAN 18 MONTHS. YOU’LL OFTEN FIND IT ON OUR VINTAGE RESERVE. It is still edible and will be even more flavoursome.

Where can I buy your products?

We have our online shop here or If you’re local to Ditcheat we sell our products in our farm shop. Otherwise you can find us in many small and independent stockists as well as major UK supermarkets.

Delivery information

There is a 7 working day lead time for wholesale. For online shop orders you will be given a delivery date at the time of processing.
